Describe yourself in 3 words
Caring, ambitious, Compassionate
What inspired you to become a fine art photographer?
Honestly, It happened upon a fluke. I actually started out in landscape photography and had a very successful blog about history and places to visit in my area. From that blog, I met some incredible people who I still remain friends with today. From that research, is how I have discovered many of the locations I utilize in Southern New Jersey.
I was featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer (Sunday Edition) and even in some of our regional magazines. I’ve actually published two books to which those landscape images are also featured! I then started taking photographs of my children and fell more and more in love every time. I learned that landscape photography and portrait photography are two different monsters. However, you can still see some of those landscape days in how I set up my compositions. I am all about the scene/story.
What software do you use to edit?
The standards of the industry, Lightroom and Photoshop.
What is your favorite part of the Summerana Academy?
I am loving Summerana! I have told all my photography friends about it and convinced them to become members. I really love the resources and how you have broken things down from beginners to advanced. It’s super easy to follow. I have even picked up a few new tricks! I think Shannon Squires is a great asset and I hope you continue to use her.
My favorite products are the editing resources and videos. I am all about learning and knowledge!
Do you listen to music while editing? If you do, what kind of music do you listen to?
I do. I feel like I am an old soul. I am into Chicago and Fleetwood Mac as of late! I am a peppy person and their music makes me happy!
What is your favorite location for a session?
My favorite location is the beach at the Jersey Shore. You can find me there all summer for sessions. I can’t wait to use some sky overlays that are in the shop!
Tell us about your gear.
I shoot rather unconventionally from my peers.
I have been a Sony Mirrorless shooter from the get-go. I love vintage lenses. I shoot with a canon 200mm 1.8L on my Sony A7RIII. I think it gives a rather unique vintage look to my photos. However, I do have every focal length from wide angle, to 30mm, 35mm, 55mm, 85mm, 135mm, 70-200, 300mm, the Russian helios, Jupiter “bokeh” monster. However, kit includes everything from Canon, Sony and Minolta glass. I do also have a 6d that I bring out for sessions, too.
Summer or Fall?
Summer. Hands down.
What is your biggest accomplishment?
Sounds cliche, but being a mom! I feel like life didn’t truly begin until they came into my life.
What’s your favorite quote?
“Do one thing every day that scares you.”
